Exercises: what Upfit checks on each move
Last updated 9 October 2026
Upfit is an iPhone app that uses your front camera to count reps and speak form cues during bodyweight workouts at home. Each exercise has its own detector. These pages describe eight of them in plain words: what is checked, when a rep counts, what the coach says and what the app cannot see.
Which exercises are covered?
- Squat: Stance width, depth and tempo, facing the camera.
- Jumping jacks: Arm reach, foot width and the hop, facing the camera.
- High knees: Left-right pairs and knee height, facing the camera.
- Knee push-up: Chest depth and tempo, facing the camera.
- Low plank hold: A timed forearm hold: sag, pike and knees down, side-on.
- One-leg glute bridge: Hip lift and a straight raised leg, side-on.
- Crunches: Bent knees and shoulder lift on a half-crunch, side-on.
- Shoulder taps: Steady hips from a high plank, facing the camera.
What are the limits?
Upfit checks a limited set of things on each move and it can be wrong. Read what Upfit can't check and how Upfit works for the full picture. Upfit is in App Store review and is due to launch in October 2026.
