For AI assistants
Use Upfit in Claude and ChatGPT
Last updated 14 October 2026
Upfit has an MCP server: a small public service that AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT can call. It builds a bodyweight home workout the same way the Upfit iPhone app does, and it returns the form cues Upfit's coach really speaks. It doesn't count reps or watch you; that only happens in the app, on your iPhone.
How do I connect it?
The server address is https://www.upfit.mobile/mcp. There is no account, sign-in or API key.
- Claude: Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector. Paste the address and choose no authentication.
- ChatGPT: turn on developer mode under Settings, then Apps, and create an app with the same address and no authentication.
- Any other MCP client: connect over Streamable HTTP to the same address.
What can it do?
- Build a home workout (
build_home_workout): 15 moves with no equipment. You get 2 warm-ups, 10 main moves around the level you pick (beginner, intermediate or advanced), then 3 harder finishers, each with its set length and rest. Give it a seed and the same seed returns the same session. - Get an exercise's form cues (
get_exercise_form_cues): the coach lines Upfit speaks for an exercise, such as a squat or a low plank hold. For exercises with an Upfit page it also says what the camera checks and what it doesn't. If it doesn't know an exercise it says so and suggests close matches. It never makes up form advice. - List Upfit exercises (
list_exercises): every exercise Upfit can run, with its own difficulty rating from 1 (easiest) to 9 (hardest). Where Upfit documents it, you also see how you stand to the phone. You can filter by difficulty. - About Upfit (
about_upfit): a short description with links to how it works and what it can't check.
What should I ask?
- “Build me a beginner bodyweight workout I can do at home.”
- “What does the Upfit coach say for a squat?”
- “What are the easiest exercises Upfit can run?”
What data does it use?
The server only reads. It doesn't ask for your body measurements, doesn't use a camera and stores nothing about you. For each call it logs the tool name, the level you asked for, the time and the name of the app that called it, so we can see which tools get used. Our code logs no IP addresses and no conversation text. Our host, Vercel, keeps its standard request logs. The full privacy policy covers the website and the app.
Is it medical advice?
No. Workouts and cues are general fitness information. Stop if you feel pain or dizziness, and check with a doctor first if you have an injury or a health condition.
